Marble Bar

Is so named because of the discovery of what was thought to be Marble but is actually Jasper. Jasper is in layers and pretty soft so can only be tumbled and made into jewelry. Would make a nice benchtop. We vivited th Comet ex gold mine, plenty if history & still gold around MB. It is now aMining hamlet with many Mines around the area, whom all cart into Pt Hedland. OUr hottest days so far, but not sultry like Darwin.

Quandong Pt

We camped here with our new friends, Ben & Maria . Jake Tobey & Indianna.
The guys tried but failed to catch dinner. They moved on to Cape Leveque and we stayed longer. We drove up to James Price Pt to see what the protesters are protesting about. Really nice spot, now Woodside want to mine Liquefied natural gas.

The end of the road. Back on the bitumen.

Derby has this pair of trees embraced. A Gum & Boab

Cherabins from the Fitzroy River. They taste same as prawns.

Derby

We crossed paths with the Malpass adventurers again in Derby. We visited another Prison Tree, this one not allowed to go near (Sacred Site)!
Nearby is the trough that is 120m ling the longest in the Sthn Hemisphere. The Derby wharf is a working wharf, but they allow vehicles to drive around it to fish until 5pm. No use we caught nothing here. Marion did attract the sand flies again. We all had overpriced fish & chips at the Wharf. The tides here are one of the biggest in Aust. from low at 1m to high at 11.5m. We stayed and watched it rush in. Pretty amazing.

Geike,

More photos from Maria 's camera.

Geike Gorge

This was another highlight. Boating up through the gorge was fantastic. We had a picnic but unfortunately got no fish.
A bad days fishing still better than a good days at work!!

Tunnel Creek and Fitzroy Crossing

We met the Malpass Family at Mt Barnett Gorge and kept crossing paths so we all camped at Fitzroy River (Crossing). We got no fish here.
